Test Trade
Place a minimal buy-and-sell through the real order path to verify a connection without waiting for an alert.
Why it was added
An Autobot is only exercised when a real alert fires, which can be days away. If the API key, ticker or order logic is wrong, you find out when a signal silently fails. Test Trade runs the real order path once, now, so problems show up before it matters.
How to use it
- Connect an API key to the Autobot first.
- Open the Autobot's page and find the Test Trade panel.
- Press Run Test Trade.
- It buys the exchange's minimum order size, then immediately sells it back. Both legs are shown with their result.
When to use it
After connecting a key, after changing a key or its permissions, or after changing the ticker or exchange. Not meant for routine use.
Risks and limits
- It places real orders and costs two trading fees. The size is the exchange's own minimum, so the amount is small, but it is real money.
- If the buy succeeds and the automatic sell-back fails, a small position is left on the exchange. The panel says so; sell it manually.
- It does not enter your Autobot's position or realized PnL, so it won't show in your dashboard.
- A pass proves the key and order path work. It says nothing about whether your strategy is any good.
- Some exchanges need specific key permissions; a missing one shows up here as an insufficient-funds or zero-balance error even when the account holds funds.
